Bit of a cheek

Back in May 2013, I was asked if I wanted a day`s work at a garden up in the beautiful Dales village of Kettlewell. I was going to blog about it, but that night I went to a Bad Pollyanna gig and forgot about work.

The lawn took 3 cuts to get to anything like medium-short!
It was for a friend of a client so even though the village is over 40 mile from my home I decided to do it. There was talk of follow-up visits I said a day a month, but the client never confirmed anything so I took it that, that was that.

At Kettlewell
Then today I received an email from him asking “If I could cut his lawn this week, preferably on Thursday? I will need a strimmer as it`s quite long.” I answered “no” well I explained I was fully booked up for the season. Do people think that I`m just sat at home waiting for the phone to ring, or what!

At Kettlewell
The job was a bit of a clearance rather than a full make-over and I took it the style was a “Country Gothic” it was in the country and had plenty of mature, moss covered trees.

At Kettlewell
I did clear 3 bags of moss off the paths and paving

Why I Am Not worried About A Terrorist Attack!

40 odd years ago when I was at school, I was in the bottom eight of the `pecking order` in my year, that is say I was one of 8 who were picked on or bullied the most. Basically I faced a one in eight chance of been physically or mentally assaulted every day for the 5 years I was at secondary/high school.

So when `they` say there is a high risk of a terrorist attack a people stop going out to pubs, theatres, clubs and restaurants etc. I think we need to `Do the numbers`

Thus:

Terrorists seem to attack about every 4 weeks on a weekend. So that`s a 1 in 4 chance it will be the weekend you are going out.

1 in 4

There`s about 20 country`s terrorists seem to attack. So that`s a 1 in 20 chance it will be your country.

1 in 20 X 4, from above.

In the UK there`s about 20 major cities which terrorists may think to attack. So that`s a 1 in 20 chance it will be your town / city.

I think in my city there could be well over 500 pubs. How the hell are they going to find the one I`m in? but if we just say 1 in 100 we are been very pessimistic.

So that`s now 1 in (4 X 20 X 20 X 100)

Which means

1 in 160,000

And that`s why I am not worried about a terrorist attack!

My Introduction to Live Music Back In 1979.

Way back in 1979 my only connection to `live music` was reading Pop Post in the local newspaper on a Tuesday night!  I was working most nights till midnight in a Hotel. Finally I decided to go down into town to The F Club and see a live band. I don`t know who they were, but I must have liked it because I was back the next week to see the Pirahnas and the Abrasive Wheels. The next week it was Destroy All Monsters. So it went on including:-
Madness
UK Subs
The Cramps
The Fall
Toyah
Generation X
John Copper Clarke
